I wrote the following in my journal on October 1, 2023. I didn’t have an entry for September 30, 2023, so I read this one since I wrote it after midnight.
Shaun’s Journal Entry: October 1, 2023
“I watched one of SJR’s first messages at her first Woman Evolved conferences in Denver. The things she said about purpose. How the enemy will do everything to make you feel unworthy to stop you from working towards your purpose. I looked at that video and was like, she has no clue what God has in store for her. She has no idea who she is. Which was a reminder for me when I finally asked God, ‘Who am I?’”
When I tell you this is so timely! In Edwina Findley Dickerson’s book, “The World Is Waiting For You,” her daughter asks, “Mommy, do you know what I was made for?” And two years ago, I asked God, “Who am I?” I did receive my answer, which I wrote down. But here’s the short but most significant answer:
1 Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
If you’re ever wondering who you are, know that YOU are God’s special possession. You were created for His glory.

As I said four years ago, it takes time, patience, and grace to become the person you know you are meant to be.
Be kind to yourself. You’re becoming that person.♥️

Since I started the day with a Winans’ song, thought I’d add one more. According to this Facebook memory, I was listening to “Everything You Touch Is A Song” on September 29, 2015—ten years ago! I just love my Facebook memories and journal entries.☺️

In my last post, “Restoration,” I wrote—
“Everything you thought you lost, including time, is being restored or made new.”
I included time being restored, but after I made the post, I heard that God is also restoring hearts, minds, and souls. What we are seeing and experiencing today is not the end. So many wonderful things are coming. We must not give up! God’s still in control and He’s got us. Prepare for the NEW!♥️

This Facebook memory from last year captures everything I am feeling this morning. Now that I’ve “tasted the taste of sky,” I never want to taste anything less.🥰
Yesterday with my two hearts (my son and daughter) was more than I could have asked for. We laughed, sang, ate, bowled, and danced. When I tell you I love them so much! And they know me so well. All while I was trying to make the day memorable for them, they were trying to do the same for me. My heart is so full. I can’t express enough how blessed I am.
Here are a few pictures from our day together. After my son got off work, we took a trip to the Coast. The first stop was the beach, then we went bowling. The playlist for the trip was ’90s R&B (courtesy of my daughter). When I tell you I sang my little heart out.😁 I kept saying, “Oooouu… I remember when that came out! I was…”. I had a memory for almost every song. Y’all, I had so much fun.☺️
The birthday boy trying to ignore me taking pictures.😂I needed to be near the water.My hearts!🥰🥰 I love how they put up with me taking pictures. But my son just wouldn’t cooperate for most of the pictures. Lol! It was fine because now we have a lot of goofy pictures to look back on and have a good laugh.😄I still can’t believe he’s already 22.
Well, that was my Saturday. I’m about to spend a little more time with my daughter before she heads back home. I pray you had a beautiful Saturday and hope your Sunday is just as lovely!♥️
