Today is my daughter’s 31st birthday!🎉🎉🎉

Last week, I shared with her several entries from a “baby” journal I kept during my pregnancy. I started it when I first learned I was pregnant and continued writing for several weeks after her birth. Although it was meant to be her baby journal, it ended up being anything but that. When I tell you I wrote everything down—Everything! Let’s just say she has a book of stories that will probably keep her entertained for ages.

Here’s what I wrote on the day of her birth:

I wrote her a note almost every day. She was my little unborn companion.♥️

Y’all, I still can’t believe I am a mother. We FaceTimed earlier, and before we ended the call, she reminded me to celebrate the day as well. She said today can be my “birthing” day. I just love her!🥰

  1. I started tearing up when I read this… even though, I’d gotten emotional about you saying in the letter the nurse didn’t believe you were in pain because you sounded so calm. So many Black and Brown women endure so much more during childbirth than they should…

“I wrote her a note almost every day. She was my little unborn companion.” You truly loved your girl before she earthly existed; it shows in your words.

Happy Happy Happy Happy BIrthday to her! 🎂🥳🎉

    1. Whew, trE! It was very clear throughout my entire pregnancy that I was being treated differently. I documented it after several of my prenatal appointments. As I mentioned, I wrote EVERYTHING!

Yes, she was loved long before she entered the world. I read to her, sang to her, and wrote letters to her. The only thing that’s changed is that she’s now grown and independent, but we’re still just as close.

Thank you for the birthday wish. I’ll pass it on to her. Have a wonderful day!
