Less Than Two Days Until Year52!

I’m back home! Had a wonderful time with my baby girl. The festivities began as soon as I arrived on Thursday, and by Friday evening, I was exhausted. Yesterday (Saturday), I asked if we could skip the plans and just hang out and go with the flow, and she was okay with that. Y’all, she had many more activities planned.

Here’s a brief recap of the past few days.

Thursday

I love a good baseball game, but only in person. I’m not a fan of watching it on TV. That evening, the Atlanta Braves played the New York Mets and won!🏆

Friday

On Friday, my daughter’s fiancé took me on a tour of his workplace before we went shopping. He works in tech support, and the view from his workspace is quite nice.

We finished the evening by visiting two of my favorite places to eat.

Saturday

My daughter made breakfast on Saturday morning. Afterwards, we hung out for a while and watched the latest episodes of Love Island USA. She loves reality shows. I just can’t get into them. Anyhoo… It was too hot to do anything else. However… we did walk down to a Brisket and Bourbon event they were having and picked up a rib plate and some cinnamon rolls.☺️

Then, last night, we had dinner at Culinary Dropout, a restaurant they had wanted to take me to during previous visits, but we never managed to visit it. I’m glad I finally went. The food was good.

This morning, I had a yogurt parfait and a BBQ rib for breakfast. That was all I needed before I left. I’m not sure what I’ll do tomorrow. We shall see.🥰

Hello Sunday

Good Morning!☀️

“Never doubt that you are loved. YOU are so very loved.”

That’s the quote I shared on this date a year ago. Y’all, it feels so wonderful to be loved, and to be loved unconditionally.

Yesterday, I got to spend the day with my two hearts. Now that they’re grown and doing their own thing, it’s been a while—maybe since last Christmas—that we’ve spent more than an hour or two together. My son is usually working on the weekends, and my daughter no longer lives in Mississippi.

Well, yesterday, we were together almost the entire day. We sang, danced, laughed, and talked about nothingness (nothing too deep this time). It was just an overall wonderful day. One that I needed so badly. Then, last night they treated me to dinner at our favorite restaurant.

Yes, it feels absolutely wonderful to be loved.🥰

My ♥️♥️s.
Orleans snow crab claws.
Our meals. I’m so glad they don’t mind me taking pictures of my food. Well, my daughter doesn’t. My son…🤷🏽‍♀️☺️

I pray you had a lovely weekend, and may today be even more beautiful. If no one’s told you in a while—like, since I told you yesterday☺️—you are loved.♥️

Love you always,

Shaun

Expect The Unexpected

When you wake up to a text from your daughter saying, “BTW, I meant to tell you I’m going [out of the country] today. Headed to the airport now. Here’s my flight information. I’ll be gone for a few days.”

What do you do?

I mean what else can you do but say, “Safe travels”, “Have fun!”, and “I love you!”

She is almost 30.

Of course, my mind went into military mode, and I sent her the government’s travel info about the country she’s traveling to and the Embassy’s information.

Then, I said a prayer to cover her.🙏🏽

She is grown and free to explore. I just wish she would’ve chosen somewhere I was somewhat familiar with. She dances to the beat of her own drums, and I love that about her. Also, she gets it honestly, so I can’t be mad at her. It’s not like I told my mom everything beforehand. However, unlike her, the military made me a little more wiser and a bit more cautious.

As I alluded to in my earlier post, I’m letting go of things I cannot control. She’s God’s child. He’s got her.

But y’all, I wasn’t ready for that. I wasn’t going to talk her out of going, but I would’ve asked a lot of questions.🤷🏽‍♀️

I can see my life as a mom with adult children is about to take me to a whole new level of motherhood. I can already see my son is ready to test being 21. He hasn’t done anything but I can feel it. This is definitely going to be interesting!

Now, I’m smiling because we’re all grown!! Wow!! I know I started off sounding a bit weary. However, the more I write the more I feel another level of freedom coming on. Again, we’re all grown!

Okay… I’m going to end here.

I guess you can say this is my first “random rambling” on this side of 50!

Y’all, why am I so excited?!!!

Okay… Bye!✌🏽
