Life doesn’t stop because we do. No, it just continues on. So, take a breather when you must, but do get back up and continue going right along with it. Life is just too short and way too precious for us to stop and allow it to pass us by.♥️
So much has happened since last year. Around this time last year, I was experiencing what I considered a spiritual pruning while also trying to adjust to life on this side of 50. The only definite thing was that I knew these next 50 years had to be different from the last.
Here’s what I shared last year.
Shared on November 23, 2021.
After asking myself the same question from a few years ago—am I someone who has fully embraced my true, authentic self?—the answer is “yes.” A year ago, I was close but not entirely there. Today, I can confidently say that I have fully embraced all of myself while still growing and evolving—as we know, both are continuous. As I have mentioned several times this year, I love this space I’m in—living life, loving God, and dancing to the beats (because there are many) of my own drum.
Y’all, I wanted this side of 50 to be different, and it truly is.♥️
Last night I shared how the song, “Shower Me With Your Love,” randomly started playing in my head. I hadn’t heard it in years, probably decades. That’s not a song that people just play everyday. Well, after that song ended, the next was “I Do” by my favs, Bell Biv Devoe (BBD), which was followed by “Smile Again,” and then Jodeci’s “Forever My Lady” and “Stay.” When I tell you I felt like a teenager/young adult in love. Those were the days! Then, just a little while ago, I saw that Whitney Houston’s “How Will I know” was released on this day in 1985.
Listen, I just love my life!! Despite the craziness, love is beautiful and music is life. I’m sooooo loving this space I’m in.
I know I just made a post, but as soon as I hit publish, the song “Shower Me With Your Love” by Surface started playing in my mind. It’s incredible how songs from ages ago resurface like they were playing on the radio yesterday. That used to be my song. Now I have to listen to it!☺️
I know I write a lot about obedience, but y’all, our obedience to God is sooooo important—so very important.
Obedience gets you through the though times. Obedience brings blessings you weren’t expecting. Obedience keeps you protected. God knows and sees things you don’t. Listen, be obedient to whatever He asks of you. You may not understand what He’s asking, or feel the need to follow through, but do. Trust Him. He’s looking out for you!♥️
Singing— “Praise is what I do, ’cause I owe it all to You.”
I’m praising God on this beautiful Thursday morning. I’m so grateful to be alive, healthy, and blessed. And guess what?! I’m still here! Yessss, I’m still here! Not only am I still here physically, but I’m still here mentally and spiritually. What a blessing!
Here are a few verses from William Murphy’s song, “Praise Is What I Do.” Source: Musixmatch
Praise is what I do When I wanna be close to You I lift my hands in praise Praise is who I am I will praise Him while I can I’ll bless You at all times
I vow to praise You Through the good and the bad I’ll praise You Whether happy or sad I’ll praise You In all that I go through Because praise is what I do ‘Cause I owe it all to You
Praise is what I do Even when I’m going through I’ve learned to worship You No my circumstance Doesn’t even stand a chance My praise outweighs the bad
I vow to praise You Through the good and the bad I’ll praise You Whether happy or sad I’ll praise You In all that I go through Because praise is what I do ‘Cause I owe it all to You
Today, I came across a quote by James Baldwin in my Facebook memories that made me think of a question I often ask myself– “How did I end up here?” Meaning, how did I end up in this space in time? Well, as James Baldwin’s quote suggests, all it takes is a millimeter of a shift, and our lives can change forever.
Although the James Baldwin quote refers to changes in the world, I can easily relate it to the personal changes that have happened to me over time. It only took one event, one experience, or one encounter for something inside me to shift. I can see it, now. I was no longer the person I was moments before that event occurred.
Y’all, life is interesting…
Side note: Just heard this, be careful of the spaces you enter and who you allow in your space. Some events and experiences are intentionally designed to alter your thoughts and behaviors. Whew!
Listen, we must stay prayed up and take God with us everywhere we go. Discernment and God’s covering are so necessary. If it doesn’t feel right, it’s not right—period, and we have to stop trying to make it feel right. There’s a distinct difference between fear or uncertainty about the unknown and feelings of unease. Uneasiness isn’t a good sign. RUN!!!
Okay… I had no idea this quote would lead me in this direction; however, here we are. Smile.
I believe I will end here. Thanks for reading. I pray you have an exceptionally blessed day.♥️
