Grief

Grief is a tricky thing. It seems to pop up out of nowhere and when you least expect it. My mom’s birthday is tomorrow. She would’ve been 66 years old. Seems like the closer it’s gotten to her day, the busier I have tried to become. Been trying to surround myself with positive and uplifting energy. However, when things become quiet, as they are now, it hits me. So what do I do? I go searching for another uplifting fix.

Well, I thought I had found another one. Decided to watch a video by Pastor Touré Roberts thinking it was about entrepreneurship. Little did I know it was about dealing with grief. Not just grief due to death, but unresolved grief from other situations and circumstances—his was from childhood.

I’m sharing his video with you because maybe it holds the answer you have been searching for on how to handle grief. Like Pastor Touré, I don’t like feeling vulnerable or sad. Besides when my brother died, I had always been able to somewhat control grief. I knew how to block it. It’s what got me through some difficult situations. I didn’t have time to grieve or feel sorry for myself. Didn’t want to. However, after watching Pastor Touré’s video, I probably should have grieved a few things. Probably should have gone through the process instead of blocking the pain. Today and tomorrow, I am going to feel what I need to feel. I miss my mom.

Anyhoo… Wishing Pastor Touré well on his journey of processing his grief. Here’s his video:

Living The Life I Imagined

Every time I share this quote, I am reminded that I am living the life I imagined.

Facebook Memory: February 20, 2022

And so, she decided to start living the life she’d always imagined.

Author Unknown

The last time I shared this quote was a little over 2 years ago. Back then I thought I was living the life I had always imagined. Little did I know that was only the beginning. I’m not sure if I’m quite there yet, but it definitely feels like it. That’s what peace will do for you. God is good.

Are you living the life you’ve always imagined—spiritually, emotionally and mentally?

Now, here I am two years later (2024), again saying I am living the life I have always imagined. Of course, there is so much more to what I imagined, so many more aspirations and dreams to achieve. However, here and now, and even back then, the life I imagined was about peace and freedom. Basically, the freedom to walk in my truth; create my own path; and embrace my uniqueness. It’s about setting boundaries and creating an environment that fosters peace and love. Therefore, I am living the life I imagined.

I pray you are living the life you have always imagined or getting there. Wishing you a beautiful day. Love you always!♥️

Blue Hearts💙

Aren’t we all striving to exceed, excel, and/or overcome something.💙

So there’s this video trending on social media of a young man explaining how marriage has been one of his biggest adversities. He’s been married seven years and has an outside child that’s almost two years old. He said one of the ways he tried to make amends with his wife was by sending her a blue heart daily. The first day he sent one. The second day he sent two. The third day he sent three….and so forth. Y’all, he was so proud of himself. Well, he never made it past 21 days. He said sending hearts every day was just too hard to do. Listened, I tried not to laugh because he seemed so sincere, but it was so funny. How could that be difficult?

And I wasn’t alone. Most people agreed that sending hearts daily wasn’t that difficult to do nor was it special. However, he saw it as something special, as well as challenging. Who were we to judge? To him, sending blue hearts for 21 days was an accomplishment. He had achieved something he didn’t believe he could. And we don’t know, maybe his wife thought it was special too and was also proud of him.💙

Well, after searching for the young man’s name, because I had planned to use something he said during the interview as a quote (exceeding, excelling, and overcoming), I discovered he was an aspiring motivational speaker and that he truly loved his wife. When I tell you my laughter and judgment was replaced with compassion and respect. Y’all, this young man is just like everyone else trying to figure out how to maneuver through this circus called life. How many times have you wished you would have responded or said something differently? How many times have you made costly mistakes but by the grace of God you’re still standing? I believe we can agree that all of us have had similar experiences.

Listen, God’s grace is everything. I believe we need to extend more of it than be so quick to judge. Right now, that small segment of his interview has gone viral. People are in the comments telling his wife she has a loser on her hands and that she needs to find better. So many opinions…

Anyway, here’s an Instagram reel Mr. Pugh had pinned to his page: JahTheVoice. Sending prayers up for him and his wife. Praying their marriage survives this.

This too shall pass.
