“Today, I encourage you to stay focused on the bigger picture. The goal. The dream. The mission. The purpose.”
Shared on November 5, 2022 with the hashtag “Stay Focused.”
Over the years, I’ve noticed that some of my goals have slightly changed; however, my overall vision, purpose and dreams have remained the same. If you haven’t already guessed, my “bigger picture” is to spread love, hope, and peace to every corner of the earth.
It can be done.
Okay, maybe I’m a little delusional. Smile. However, it’s my lifelong mission to make it happen.♥️
Today, I didn’t just vote for myself, but I voted for my momma, my grandma, my great grandma, my great-great grands—mothers, aunts, cousins, godmothers… Yes, today, I voted for them.
But that’s not what has me all emotional and excited right now. Nah… that’s not it!
Listen, I just voted for five year old Shaun!!! Screaming
Yessss, I just voted for her. I just voted for that little girl who followed former President Jimmy Carter’s every word and action about peace. Yes, I just voted for her! I just voted for EVERYTHING I once dreamed possible. Listen, we will sing my song one day!! I voted for the possibility of a more peaceful, kinder world. A world where people aren’t tolerated but celebrated for their differences. I voted for equality, togetherness, compassion, justice, and humanity. Y’all, I truly believe I will see all of this in my lifetime. Even if it’s only for a moment.
No one believed we would see this day, yet here we are. So, any and everything is possible!
Y’all have a wonderful day! And even if the results aren’t in my favor, I STILL believe!!!♥️
Whatever you bury will resurface at the oddest times.
That’s my personal message for today.
Y’all, God’s timing is quite interesting. When you open yourself up to be worked on, God will confront you with issues you thought you had defeated, only to discover they were buried.
All I can say is what I seem to be saying a lot of lately—
Today, the world lost a genius—a musical mastermind—Mr. Quincy Jones. I honestly can’t recall a time in my childhood and young adulthood when his influence wasn’t felt. However, there is one specific moment in time—aside from when I was a Michael Jackson stan☺️—when I truly became a fan. It was when he brought together some of my favorite artists from the 1980s to produce the song “We Are The World.” I remember being in awe of so many icons from different music genres coming together to sing a song that could possibly change the world. Yes, I expected a lot. Smile. For me, it meant my wish of the world finally singing in perfect harmony was closer. I was hopeful.
Then, there was “The Secret Garden.” Whew!!! If you know, you know! What a song!
Lastly, and probably his work that had the most impact on my life, was the album, “Q’s Jook Joint”. It was released during one of the most challenging years of my life. I was a single mom with an almost one year old and had no clue how I’d make it as a mom or if I would ever be loved. This album (CD) gave me hope. I remember having it on repeat for months. Wow, the memories!
Today, I honor Mr. Jones. May he rest in peace and power.🙏🏽♥️
