Late Post

Just noticed I missed sharing an afternoon post!

Here’s something for you…

Love and be loved. You deserve to receive just as much love as you give.

Laugh often. Belly laughs are the best. I had a few today.

Live life to its fullest. Remember, you only have one life, make this one count.

Y’all, time passes so quickly. One day you’re in your 20s and the next you’re in your 50s.

Today, my best friend celebrated her 51st birthday. What a blessing.🙏🏽

I also discovered that today marks the 29th anniversary of the release of the “Waiting to Exhale” soundtrack (November 14, 1995). Boy, do I remember that soundtrack. “Sittin’ Up In My Room” by Brandy was my favorite song back then, followed by “Exhale” (the shoop song), by Whitney Houston.

Good music.

Good memories.

I pray you had a wonderful day, and that you’ll have a restful night.♥️

Love you,

Shaun

A Culinary Revival

Good Morning!☀️

“A culinary revival” is how I described the week I had ten years ago in October 2014. However, it wasn’t just the week I met Marcus Samuelsson, Leah Chase, and John T. Edge (the food writer and former director of the Southern Foodways Alliance) but also the months leading up to it. A few months ealier, I had been invited to a culinary event in New Orleans with Chef John Folse. So, by this time, I felt as if the culinary side of my life had been awakened, and it was finally time to use my culinary degree. Yes, I was somewhat of a chef many moons ago (2002)—degree only, never worked in the field. Let’s just say you never know where life will take you. You plan for one thing—I was set on being a personal chef and traveling the world—and life goes in a completely different direction. While doing part of my culinary internship at a local hospital, I met a registered dietitian, and the rest is history!

Honestly, I’m not sure what’s next for me and this culinary thing. It always seems to be lurking in the background. I use it when doing food demos for nutrition education, but I would love to do much more with it. We shall see.

Well, that’s all I have for now. I just love a good trip down memory lane. Thanks for joining me. Wishing you a wonderful day.♥️

Love you,

Shaun

Wide Awake

Y’all, why am I wide awake like it’s 8:00 in the morning and not around 1:00 AM. Shaking my head. I had basically written a whole book about my Bell Biv Devoe experience only to decide not to share it. Believe me, it wasn’t anything juicy, just more than I needed to share. Anyhoo, I’ll share the Facebook memory that prompted it.

Facebook Memory: August 16, 2014

When I say I was devastated! I must have made that post after midnight because I said they had already performed that night. Well, they actually performed later on that day. The video I saw on the website was an advertisement.

As I said in the post, I had never won anything before winning those tickets. I always refer to them as a gift from God. For years I had wanted BBD or New Edition to perform at one of my birthday parties and the day before my 41st birthday I won tickets to the Jackson R&B Festival. Y’all, I didn’t even know who was performing until after I won the tickets. So, BBD being included in the lineup was the best surprise. Although I had to wait almost two months before I got to see them, it was so worth the wait. Great memory!

Well, good night. I’m finally sleepy.♥️

Facebook Memories

One of the reasons I check my Facebook memories daily is because I get to see past interactions from loved ones who have passed on. Reading their comments or just seeing their names pop up on the screen makes me feel like they’re still here. They’re just far away. This is also why I don’t delete all of my text messages or voicemails (I always hold on to 2-3). When I need to hear their voices or read their last words, I can. So blessed to have had them in my life.♥️ ~Shaun

My momma is still with me.🥰 And…great quote!😁 I try my best to live by this.

My Rainy Day

So dark and dreary.

Today is one of those days when I wish I could cancel my appointments and crawl back in bed and watch a few episodes of “Matlock”, “Perry Mason” or “Murder She Wrote.” Y’all, this rain sounds so calming. There’s no way I should be working today. I should be casually dozing off.

On another note– Boy do I miss my grands! On days like this, we would have been watching “In The Heat of the Night” or the “Price is Right” until our stories came on. We would also have the front door or the windows open so we could smell the rain. Y’all, there’s nothing like the smell of rain when it first hits the dirt! It smells sooo good. Listen, don’t judge me. I’m a country girl.☺️

Yeah… Those were the days.

Okay, enough reminiscing and wishing. Let me get back to work.

Hope you are enjoying your day!♥️
