I Am My Rescue

Facebook Memory: February 8, 2022

Once you realize you’re responsible for your own survival, you begin to move differently.

That’s what I shared two years ago after watching one of Lisa Nichols motivational videos. Everything she said about making a way for herself and her son to live a better life resonated with me. But to be honest, I never looked for someone to rescue me. I always knew I was my rescue. Often, I was so much of a superwoman that I turned away help. Sometimes much needed help. Mostly because I never truly trusted anyone to help without there being a hidden agenda.

From what I witnessed, even from childhood, the only reason people helped was to go back and tell others how they helped you or for you to return the favor. Back then it was my mom needing help, whether with babysitting or financially. I saw how she was treated. Even heard what others said through their children. My mom never asked for help often. She was always very independent and a very hard worker. When my sister and I were babies, she picked cotton during the summers to take care of us (yes, in the 1970s). With that being said, she also graduated high school a year early and immediately went to college, and took me and my sister with her. She refused to leave us behind. She was her own rescue. So, whenever she did ask for help it was because she really needed it. For reference—My mother was a teen mom. Had me at age 15 and my sister at 16.

As an adult, I swore I would never ask for help, and rarely accepted it. Whatever I needed, I learned to get it on my own. One of the hardest things I had to do was ask for help after becoming a single parent. And most of the time it was because I needed a babysitter. I never asked for financial assistance, even when I needed it most. So, that statement did and still does resonate with me. I am my rescue, but now with God’s guidance. I have found there is a huge difference between doing things on my own and doing things with God.

Didn’t intend to write this much. Wishing you a wonderful day!♥️

All We Have Is The Present

I cannot believe we are almost one full week into 2024! Time is doing what it does—moving forward without a care in the world. It does not care about feelings, life, peace or chaos. Nope. It just moves right along. Which brings me to today’s Facebook memory—staying present. I believe when we stop fighting time life seems to flow so much more effortlessly.

Facebook Memory: January 5, 2023

Let’s not be so consumed with the past or the future that we miss out on today’s blessings. Yesterday is gone and tomorrow is not promised. All we have is now.♥️

Staying present represents our respect for time.

Today, I challenge you (doing the same for myself) to stay present and enjoy the gift of now. Have a wonderful day and beautiful weekend!♥️

Love you,

Shaun

Grateful

Gratitude is key.

Hezekiah Walker’s song, “Grateful,” says–

I am grateful for the things that you have done
Yes, I’m grateful for the victories we’ve won
I could go on and on and on about your works
Because I’m grateful, grateful, so grateful just to praise you Lord
Flowing from my heart are the issues of my heart, it’s gratefulness

Flowing from my heart is gratefulness. There is so much I have to be grateful for including still being here. Every day on earth is an opportunity to witness God’s glory. So often we miss it because we are looking for it in something grand. Today, I encourage you to be intentional about seeing God’s glory, even in the simplest of things.♥️

Love you,

Shaun

Only Two Weeks Left in 2023

Y’all, we are only two weeks away from the glorious 2024! Yes, I am referring to it as glorious because 6/24 is my birthday month as well as my 51st birthday. How cool is that! Looking forward to every wonderful thing God has planned for me. It’s going to be a great year!

Here’s a caption from one of last year’s Facebook memories along with the Hello Sunday post I shared with it.

Facebook Memory: December 18, 2022

Only 2 weeks left in 2022!🎉

Whatever happened or didn’t happen this year, was meant to be. If you’re human like me, I know you celebrated your wins, even the small ones. But your losses, disappointments and setbacks… How did you cope – or attempt to cope – when things didn’t quite go as planned?

Me– I leaned on God a little more. I’m so grateful for His love, mercy and grace.♥️

There is nothing comparable to God’s love, mercy, and grace. He’s so amazing.

Y’all, self-love is everything, but God’s love will always, always, always reign supreme. I just love the way He loves me. If you do not already have a strong relationship with God, I suggest you build one. There is absolutely nothing like it—nothing like it! I cannot stress it enough, I am truly blessed.

Praying you have a peacefully, blessed week. Whatever goals you set for 2023 can still happen! Don’t let the countdown to the new year stop you from achieving as much as you can. You got this!

Love you!♥️
