Do You Know What You Want?

Good Morning☀️

On November 28, 2021, I was reading Will Smith’s memoir, WILL. Meant to share this yesterday but forgot. When I tell you I took sooooo many notes. If you haven’t read it, it is so worth reading. Here’s an excerpt from my entry.

Shaun’s Journal Entry: November 28, 2021

“JL or James Lassiter asked Will these questions while trying to figure out what Will really wanted. Will had no real direction just wanted not to ever be broke again and to be able to have fun.

Questions:

What is the dream?

What are you trying to build?

What do you want?

Stephen Covey, in The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, said there are only two human problems: (1) knowing what you want, but not knowing how to get it; and (2) not knowing what you want.”

Again, I loved this memoir!

I believe we must ask ourselves JL’s questions from time to time to see if our answers have changed. Is our dream still the same? What are we trying to build? What do we want? Even though I am now on the other side of 50, the core (which I believe is most important) of my answers remain the same. I know what I want.

For years, I used to dwell on what Steven Covey listed as the first problem—knowing what I wanted but not knowing how to get it. However, today, I don’t even think about how I’m going to get it anymore. God is finally the captain of my ship and I’m sitting back enjoying this ride called life. I trust Him to get me to wherever I belong. He knows best. Listen, life is so much better when we allow God to lead, and when we’re obedient.

Question:

Do you know what you want? Your core desires, not the superficial ones.

This is all for now. Thanks for reading. I hope you had a great Thanksgiving!♥️

Love you,

Shaun

Your Health Matters

Your health matters.

I know it’s Thanksgiving and most aren’t thinking about health or healthy anything; however, your health still matters. Not only am I speaking about physical health, but mental and emotional health as well. Be mindful of what you put in your body (enjoy, but eat in moderation) and who you allow in your space (separate yourself from people and things that causes you stress). Prioritizing your health is of utmost importance.

That’s all. Carry on with your wonderful day!♥️

Love you,

Thankful Thanksgiving

Hey You! I am thankful for YOU. Yes…YOU!♥️

Good Morning☀️

This morning, I am most thankful for family. Since my mom passed, I seem to value the time I spend with family a little bit more. Of course, I always cherish the time I spend with my two hearts (smiling because my daughter’s home🥰); however, lately, I have been intentional about not rushing time spent with extended family, especially my siblings and their families, and my mom’s siblings. Now, when I am in their presence, I’m present. I soak up everything—from their words and expressions to the very essence of their being. Yes, I’m right there with them. Before, I may have taken it all for granted, but now I realize just how precious family is.

What are you most thankful for today?

You Choose

I couldn’t choose which Facebook memory to share, so please choose the one that resonates most with you at this moment.

Facebook Memory #1: November 27, 2022

Stay focused!

Facebook Memory #2: November 27, 2023

Keep smiling!

At the moment, they are both significant. Right now, I’m all smiles, and as you know, smiles are quite contagious. So, even though we are miles apart, I hope you are smiling. As for staying focused, I am definitely focused.♥️

How about you? Which did you choose?

Do It Anyway

Saw this message and thought I’d share.

Found this under a Facebook post. Not sure who to credit, but I do thank them for sharing.

The message is true. No matter what someone else does, even if it appears to be the same or similar, it isn’t. YOU are the key that makes it different.

When I first began blogging, I really didn’t care much about what others thought of my writing style. However, after reading other blogs, I started questioning and critiquing it. I have always written as if I’m holding a conversation with a good friend or writing in my journal. So, for a while I was conflicted between being authentically me and trying to fit in with other writers. After a while, I settled on being myself. It’s my blog and it’s about my world. Those who continued reading did, and those who left, well, my style wasn’t for them.

Today, I write not only to share my stories but also to spread love, hope, and inspiration. Millions of writers are doing the same; however, they are not me. They are not Shaun. Honestly, I’m just grateful to be able to write and share with others.

Before I end, I would like to thank you for your continued support and for sticking around. I really do appreciate you taking time to read my posts.♥️

Love you always,

Shaun
