Facebook Memory: August 27, 2019 – Success

Here is a Facebook post I shared on August 27, 2019. Y’all, I actually took the leap and ventured out on my own. I am no where near where I know I will be some day, however, I am on my way! #NotGivingUp

August 27, 2019

Here’s today’s social media find. DO NOT GIVE UP! Success does not happen overnight. We refer to some as “overnight” successes; but in reality, they’ve been working on their craft for a while. Think about social media celebrities. Most of us saw them when they first started making videos. They didn’t give up. They practiced their craft until it was so good that others wanted to share it.

If you have an idea or vision that’s been nagging you for years, do it. Maybe all of the pieces aren’t in place, and you feel like making a move is pointless. Believe me, it’s not! Do something. Work towards it. Just don’t sit idle and one day wish you would have tried. The road to success will not be easy. DON’T GIVE UP! (This isn’t just for you, it’s for me too!☺️)

Y’all, I just love how I write things for my future self. Two years ago, I was not prepared for where I am today, nor am I prepared for where I will be. But as I said before, I am not giving up. Go Shaun/LaShaundreaB!!

Wednesday Writings

Starting a little late, today. Decided not to rush things. Months ago I added “LaShaundreaB’s Wellness Wednesdays” to my calendar. I added it to ensure I did something just for me at least once a week. Whatever I wanted to do. Whether that was pampering myself, reorganizing my closet, watching a good movie, reading a book, or just relaxing. I knew I would need time to slow down and breathe. So today, I am sticking with my schedule. I am taking care of Shaun, first. No rush. Everything else can wait.

Life

Beaulah

Today has been a very weird day. I guess you can say it began yesterday. I could feel something was off. I was anxious. Things were too quiet. I texted my dad but he never responded. Instead of calling him, I said I would wait until this morning to call. Well, before I could call him, he called me. My aunt – his only living sister, his baby sister – had just passed. She would have been 65 in two weeks. Last year, in the midst of the pandemic, my stepmom decided to throw her a small, surprise birthday party. She said she just felt like celebrating Aunt Beaulah. Little did we know, that would be her last.

As my dad always says when someone passes, “It’s just one of those things.” I guess he’s right. No one is beyond death. We all have to die someday. I’m sad. Been in somewhat of a daze most of the day. I have been functioning as usual, but I’m not truly here. I logged off social media almost two weeks ago because I was tired of seeing sad stories and reading obituaries. Ha! The jokes on me. Whether I’m plugged in or not, sadness and death still exists. And, life goes on.

Rest easy, Aunt Beaulah. You will definitely be missed.

Perceptions

Perception – a way of regarding, understanding, or interpreting something; a mental impression

Question – If you perceive something to be true, is it actually true?

Social media has opened my eyes about the way we perceive things. Even when in agreement, we never truly understand the other person’s full perspective unless we ask, or they explain it in detail. Most of the time we assume that because we are in agreement, our perspectives are the same. When in reality, they are not.

Honestly, perceptions can be very deceptive. Especially when we attempt to interpret another person’s feelings or words. Have you ever wondered how someone perceived you based on your words, feelings or actions? Do you believe their perception would be accurate if they never spoke to or interacted with you? More than likely, not. So why do we assume our perceptions of others to be true?

My advice, if you really want to know how a person feels, or understand the meaning behind their words or messages, ASK. Also, people change over time. Just because they said something or felt a certain way a year ago, doesn’t mean they feel the same way today. Again, ASK.

As always, thanks for reading and enjoy the rest of your day!
