My Journey With God, No. 74

Y’all, the struggle is real!

Do I choose what I want now?

Or…

Do I choose what I want most?

Will my choice make my 100-year-old self proud or look back with regrets?

Again, the struggle is real.

Life is real.

Only time will tell which I chose.

Stay Focused: One Decision Can Change Your Life

Good Morning☀️

Since Facebook grouped these two stories together, I decided to share the Facebook memories from each one.

🙏🏽

Simple message, yet it is often difficult to do until all noise is blocked—both externally and internally.

All it takes is ONE decision for our entire life to change. What may seem like a small decision today could actually be one of the greatest decisions of our lifetime.

Message—

We must stay focused so when it’s time to make those life-changing decisions, we won’t hesitate to make them.♥️

Love you,

Shaun

Choose Wisely

I guess I can say “Good Morning” because it is after midnight. Just woke up feeling a bit uneasy after having a somewhat disturbing dream. I won’t go into the scenarios because there were several, but the message for all was “Choose wisely.” In each scenario, there was a choice to be made—some big, some small—but all were important and had the potential to negatively impact that person’s life and, in some instances, someone closely connected to the situation.

If you have to make any choices in the near future that could negatively alter your world—could be as small as how you respond to a question (that was one of the scenarios)—choose wisely. Pause and think before responding.

In all of the scenarios in my dream, the person made the right choice. Well, one didn’t but was able to bounce back from their decision before it ruined their life. In that situation, someone close to them made the choice they would have and they saw the consequences of their decision. Talk about a scared straight moment.

Anyhoo…

Let me turn over and go back to sleep. Hopefully my next dream will be peaceful and have me smiling when I wake up.🥰

I pray your dreams are pleasant.♥️

Love you,

Shaun

Just Do It!

So serene.

I knew what I needed—to be near the water. So I made it happen.☺️

God is good…so good.

The decision is yours. Do what you need to do to have the day and life you desire. ♥️

Love you,

Allow God To Lead

Lately, I have been intentionally pausing to ask God for guidance on matters that I have my mind dead set on. Yes…sometimes I have my own plan(s) in mind that don’t always align with God’s. Smile. From experience, I have learned that taking a moment to pause and seek God’s guidance helps me avoid problems and setbacks. Also, life tends to flow more smoothly when I allow Him to lead.🥰♥️ ~Shaun

How are you doing with allowing God to lead?

Discernment – Are You Using It?

Good Morning! Today’s Facebook memory is a great reminder to use discernment when making decisions. Especially when making decisions that are potentially life changing. Here’s what I shared two years ago.

Facebook Memory: September 6, 2022

Discernment– the ability to judge well: the quality of being able to grasp and comprehend what is obscure.

God has given each of us the ability to discern whether or not something is in our best interest. If it’s not, let it go. If it is, embrace it. Discernment is one of our superpowers. Be sure to use it.♥️

That’s it for now. Remember, God has given us all the power of discernment. Let’s use it. Our purposes are too great for us not to.

Love ya.♥️

Leaps in Life

Yesterday, I had lunch with a friend and we were talking about how things have happened in our lives since we’ve been adults. She was saying how she never had plans for her life. That everything in her life happened by chance.

Well, my story was quite different. I had plans for almost every aspect of my life. Then, one mistake (what I considered a mistake—having sex without being married) changed the entire trajectory of my life. Not only did it throw a whole wrench in my plans, it messed me up mentally. Honestly, I didn’t know how to recover. Everything I had imagined was shot (so I believed). So, every decision made afterwards was based on that one “mistake.” Shame is a beast!

After my life and plans began to crumble, I decided to do something drastically different. I woke up one morning and decided to join the Air Force. I made that decision, or took that leap, without an ounce of fear or a second thought. Same thing when I finally decided to get a divorce. At first, I was too afraid to leave because I had no idea how I would survive on my own. Then, one day I wasn’t afraid anymore. It was the same when I resigned from my job. I had no fear.

What I am trying to say is when you’re really ready to take the leap you’ll do it, and you won’t be afraid. Maybe nervous, but not afraid. For me, those moments of decision were the most peaceful and clearest. Listen, people can talk until they’re blue in the face trying to motivate you to do something you’re not ready for, and you may even try, but it’s not until you’re actually ready that you’ll take the leap without fear or regret.

Anyhoo… here’s the real post. Guess I felt like writing. Smile. Take the leap…when you’re ready. And you’ll know when you’re ready because all fear will be gone.♥️

Love you,

Shaun

Facebook Memory: July 25, 2022

Listen, it took me a while to take the leap. Had been feeling it for years. Had so many excuses why I couldn’t. How I couldn’t make it without having support, without a clear direction or plan. Then, one day, the fear was gone. Like completely GONE. That’s when I took the leap. Has it been easy? Not at all! However, it was so worth it! I DO NOT regret it at all!! Y’all, three years ago I couldn’t even envision this. But GOD DID!!🙌🏽

I know there are more leaps to come; and when they do, I won’t be as hesitant to take the leaps.

Take the leap. God’s got you!

One Decision: Part 2

When I searched X (formerly known as Twitter) for the Trent Shelton quote I shared in my earlier post (originally shared on February 15, 2022), I also found this tweet. Thought it was also worth sharing.

Again, all it takes is ONE.♥️

Side note: Whenever I start seeing the same exact message over and over again I know it’s a message I personally need to take heed to. I may share the messages with you, but they’re definitely for me too. Praying I choose the best decision, whatever it may be.🙏🏽

Life

One Decision

So grateful God gives us multiple opportunities to make right decisions (sometimes within seconds—those “are you sure you should do this” moments). Intuition is key. If it doesn’t feel right, steer clear.

I agree, ONE decision can change the entire trajectory of life.

I often wonder what life would have been like had I stayed in Kansas after graduation; had I not joined the Air Force. Would I still be living in the same town? Would I be married with several kids? What kind of career would I have?

There are so many instances where one decision could have significantly changed my life. Also where one decision did change my life. Overall, I am satisfied with the decisions I made. Could have made a few more wiser ones, but I didn’t, and it is what it is. Smiling

Praying God gives me the wisdom and courage (fear is a bugaboo) to make better decisions as I navigate through the next 50 years of life.♥️
