Obedience Matters

Good Morning!☀️

Yesterday, I wrote, “God has spoken. He has already advised you on what needs to be done, next. Now it’s up to you to respond accordingly.”

Well, a portion of that message was taken from a caption I had shared the year before (October 29, 2023). Let’s just say I created a better graphic and repurposed the caption. Smile. Although I made it a bit cuter, the message was still the same, and it was actually for me. Yep! That message was for me.

You see, a few weeks ago, I received very specific instructions from God about something I needed to do. I followed through, but only to a certain extent. What I failed to do was follow through with confidence. So, afterwards, I was easily persuaded to modify what I was told to fit someone else’s plan. Well, almost daily, I kept hearing I needed to be obedient and do what I was told.

Fast forward to yesterday—after coming across my Facebook memory about already hearing what God had said and needing to respond accordingly, I did just that. I did what I was originally advised to do, and when I did, the person responded that God had already given them that same message. Hmmm…

Listen, be obedient. You don’t have to know why you’re being asked to do something, just do it. Just be obedient.♥️

Shaun

My Journey With God, No. 4

Trust in God.

That’s the song I’m currently hearing. It’s like my thoughts come with their own background music, and right now, The Winans’ “Trust In God” is it.

The song says—

“Just look up. Tomorrow’s sun.. will let you know.. your life’s not done. Just look around.. love’s pouring down. Trust in God.”

Listen, trust Him.♥️

Love you,

Shaun

A Culinary Revival

Good Morning!☀️

“A culinary revival” is how I described the week I had ten years ago in October 2014. However, it wasn’t just the week I met Marcus Samuelsson, Leah Chase, and John T. Edge (the food writer and former director of the Southern Foodways Alliance) but also the months leading up to it. A few months ealier, I had been invited to a culinary event in New Orleans with Chef John Folse. So, by this time, I felt as if the culinary side of my life had been awakened, and it was finally time to use my culinary degree. Yes, I was somewhat of a chef many moons ago (2002)—degree only, never worked in the field. Let’s just say you never know where life will take you. You plan for one thing—I was set on being a personal chef and traveling the world—and life goes in a completely different direction. While doing part of my culinary internship at a local hospital, I met a registered dietitian, and the rest is history!

Honestly, I’m not sure what’s next for me and this culinary thing. It always seems to be lurking in the background. I use it when doing food demos for nutrition education, but I would love to do much more with it. We shall see.

Well, that’s all I have for now. I just love a good trip down memory lane. Thanks for joining me. Wishing you a wonderful day.♥️

Love you,

Shaun

My Journey With God, No. 3

I know you probably wouldn’t believe this, but John P. Kee’s “I Do Worship” is stuck in my head again. Didn’t even realize it until I sat still.

For God’s goodness and His glory. For the joy inside my story. For the peace He gave to me. For the day He set me free. I do worship Him.

Y’all, God is so good. I am beyond blessed.♥️

Quick Message For You

Here’s a quick message for you before your day begins.

“Be proactive instead of reactive. Pray ahead of the devil!” – Bishop Dale Bronner

Covered. I’m God’s child!!

Quite a message, huh?! Be proactive, not reactive.

Baby, we need to get ahead of whatever the enemy has set up to disrupt our day. Lord, send your angels before us to block any- and everything that’s meant to ruin our day, stop progress, discourage us, break us, or cause us to act out of character. Lord, this is the day that You’ve made and we will rejoice and be glad in it… all day long! Yes…ALL day long. Amen

Praying you have a wonderfully, blessed Monday! Listen, God’s got us!!♥️

Never Give Up

Good Morning!☀️

I shared the Facebook memory below six years ago, and I still believe it to be true today. If you keep putting in the work and stay focused, in time, your dreams and goals will come true. The key is to never give up.♥️

Love you,

Shaun

Hang in there. God’s got you.

Born To Soar

On October 27, 2017, I updated my Facebook cover with the photo above. It’s a great reminder that I was born to soar. God wouldn’t have it any other way.

In case you forgot, you were also born to soar. Smile♥️

Love you,

Shaun
