Today is a new day! In other words, it’s an opportunity for a new beginning. An opportunity to do something different. To want something different. To expect something different.
Soooo…
What will you do differently?
What do you want to be different?
What are you expecting to be different?
Just a few questions to ponder. Smile
I pray you have an amazing week that’s different and more wonderful than you expected.♥️
I have always believed in creating something solid. Something that would outlast even me. Something sustainable.
Sustainability was always one of my first thoughts when asked to work on community-based research projects, especially those that had the potential of making or breaking communities—leaving them healthier or leaving them worse.
I always asked—and I’m pretty sure many were annoyed—What’s the plan for after?
After the funding ends.
After the results aren’t found favorable, or publishable.
After a bigger and better opportunity comes along.
What’s the plan for the community?
I have found that commitment, longevity, and endurance are key to sustainability. You have to be committed to the plan (the vision), and in it for the long haul. You have to push through the hard times. Now, I am not going to lie, there were times when I wanted to give up. Times when my heart was so broken that I did give up. Y’all, people be peopling. However, I am now realizing that when God has a purpose for your life, even you can’t stop it!
So, here I am.
What I am building will last. I know this to be true because God didn’t give me a vision for something temporary. For a quick fix. He gave me a vision for something sustainable, where communities will thrive.
Here’s another great share from Bruce Van Horn. When I tell you his posts kept me encouraged! He is missed.
Slowly, but surely, things are happening.
One crawl, one step, and one leap at a time. It will happen… It is happening.♥️
Our mental and emotional wellbeing matters just as much as our physical and spiritual. Be sure to surround yourself with people, thoughts, and media (of all kinds) that protect and promote your wellbeing. Remember, you matter, first. You cannot fully pour into others if you’re mentally and emotionally depleted.
Two years ago, I shared the following—
“They say it’s not the water around the boat that sinks it, but the water that gets inside. My prayer for you today is that the water – drama, chaos, dysfunction, bad vibes – remains outside your boat. The goal is to protect your mental health.”

Again, your mental and emotional wellbeing are of utmost importance. Protect both.
I pray you have a wonderful Sunday. Stay afloat!♥️
The year before I shared the graphic above, I wrote the following caption for another post.
October 10, 2021
“This post is so true. What I’ve learned in the short time that I’ve been working for myself is to keep going. Keep trying new things. Keep networking. Keep learning. Keep taking leaps. And most importantly – KEEP GOD FIRST! Y’all, the ways He’s shown up is mind blowing. Tearing up as I think about it. He’s so good. Yes, definitely keep Him first!”
Keeping God first has been the only way I’ve managed to make it through the tough times (it can get pretty tough) and the good times (remaining humble). Y’all, His guidance is impeccable! You don’t want to move without it. However, it does require unwavering trust and obedience. Don’t worry, He’ll give you assignments along the way to build and strengthen both. Smile
Today, my advice is still the same. First, and most importantly, always keep God first! Y’all, He must remain first. Then, continue learning, creating, networking, and leaping. Eventually, everything will fall into place.♥️
This weekend was hard because it reminded me of my brother’s death in October 2019. However, now I’m remembering one of the happier moments of October 2019.
This morning I was bombarded with all kinds of wonderful memories of my fav being celebrated. Little did I know that two extremes could happen in the same month. To be on ten at one point—because I was celebrating and posting like I was there with Tyler Perry. I was so excited and happy for him! Only to hit zero—less than zero—two weeks later when my brother died. Y’all, I could scream now! Life is something else!
Anyhoo… I’m going to keep it on a happy note. No tears today.
Here’s what I shared five years ago after purchasing this magazine.
He deserves his roses.🌹
Now, here’s what I shared moments ago when I reshared it on Facebook.
Facebook Present😉: October 7, 2024
Great memory!! I believe this was one of Tyler Perry’s most memorable years of his success and brilliance being on display for the world to see. That summer he made one of his most famous speeches at the BET awards about the importance of ownership and not allowing anyone to stop us from fulfilling our dreams. It was also the same year, and around this time, that Tyler Perry Studios had its grand opening. Oh, and he also got his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. What a year that was!🌟
For me, it was the excitement of watching God fulfill a dream in real time. I had been following Tyler’s endeavors for a while, and it was great to see him celebrated. But, listen, Tyler’s dream isn’t the only one I’ve been following. No, I’ve been following YOURS, too! I see YOU, and I see what God is doing in your life. You may not always see it because you’re too close to it. However, God is working and doing some AMAZING things in your life. Whatever you dreamed WILL come to fruition. I see it!!
I look at Tyler’s story and his success as motivation to keep going. Yes, all of us will have setbacks, as Tyler did. However, we must not give up. Listen, cry when you need to cry. Take a break when needed. But whatever you do, NEVER give up on your dreams! Love you!♥️
**Just want to add, it’s so cool that he’s sharing the cover with baby Archie. I bet he never imagined in a million years he would become a godfather to an actual princess. How beautiful is that!💖
Again, great memory!
Y’all, as I mentioned, I’m following YOUR dreams, too. I see YOU. I see God working. I see who you’re becoming. Don’t give up!
You have come too far and endured too much (way too much) to stop now. God is always working, even when you do not feel it or see it. Listen, now is not the time to give up.
Keep Going!!♥️
Love you always,
Shaun
And God’s got YOU!
Wanted to add this. I am literally watching God work in so many people’s lives (including mine). It’s so amazing to see. The problem is—and I’m including myself in this as well—they/we don’t always see it. I pray God opens our eyes, hearts, and minds so we’re able to fully experience the magnitude of what He’s doing. Amen
Several posts ago, I mentioned a conversation with Dr. Cheryl Wood (motivational speaker) about taking a leap into the entrepreneurial world. Well, until I saw this Facebook memory (screenshot below) this morning, I had forgotten that a few years earlier I had become a sole proprietor, which became my side hustle for a few years. Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m not knocking it because it—The Research Diva–RD—eventually became LaShaundreaB, Registered Dietitian and Research Consultant, the hub for all of my projects. I started with what I had.

I shared Jennifer Hudson’s song, “I Am Changing,” with the post.
As I said in my previous post, “Make It Happen, Today!”, if it’s something you really want to do, don’t put it off. Start with what you have and God will do the rest. After creating The Research Diva–RD, not even a year later, my confidence took the biggest blow. Y’all, knocked it down to ZERO. In all of the conferences and workshops I had attended, no one had prepared me for the hits. Every speaker made them seem like a small hiccup in the process. You know, “It’s just something you have to go through to get to the other side.” And to their credit, I will say, the pain or disappointment isn’t something easy to describe. All I can say is, it hurt! Had me second guessing my dreams and purpose. Didn’t even know if I wanted to remain a dietitian or in research. It was a terrible time for me, but eventually, like everyone else who’d experienced setbacks, I found my way back.
Listen, life is going to happen, and sometimes it will literally knock the life out of you. If or when it happens, please be kind to yourself, and give yourself grace and time to find your way back. Just don’t give up on your dreams. God put them in you for a purpose that’s much greater than yourself.
Well, that’s all for now. Just saw that post and thought I’d share it with you. Listen, don’t wait, make your dreams happen, now!♥️
Whatever you desire, it’s up to YOU to make it happen. Please do not wait for your circumstances to change. Start with what you have. Yes…that little bit. And God will do the rest. I’m telling you what I know to be true, not what I’ve heard.
Last year I shared, “Make it happen.” Two years before, I did just that. Smile. And I continue to do so today.

This was me making it happen with the little that I had.
Believe me, God has placed everything you need to get started within your reach. The outcome doesn’t have to be perfect. God will perfect things along the way. All you have to do is initiate the process and He’ll do the rest. No more wasting years waiting—like the man in the Bible sitting by the pool waiting for someone to put him in so he could be healed. No, no more waiting! You need to make it happen, TODAY!♥️
