God’s Timing, gratitude

August 14, 2014

Happy Friday!☀️

Reading past journal entries from this date and came across this entry—

An excerpt from August 14, 2014:

“I believe my purpose in life is to get my people from point A to point B. My job is to encourage the young to reach for the stars. They may have so many odds stacked against them, but the sky is the limit. They really need to know that if they dream it they really can achieve it and more. Some may ask why are you not where your dreams take you. My response is, I’m not sure. Bad decisions. Distractions. Maybe this is where God intended for me to be at the moment. But I do know there is so much more left for me to do. I do not desire to lead or be in the spotlight, but whatever God has planned for me I will do. I will do what I must to make sure my people excel!”

Whew!! These past 12 years have seemed like a very long journey. A journey I did not know I would take. But God did. He knew, and He equipped and guided me every step of the way to get to where I am today.

This particular part of the entry has me in tears this morning—

“Some may ask why are you not where your dreams take you. My response is, I’m not sure. Bad decisions. Distractions. Maybe this is where God intended for me to be at the moment. But I do know there is so much more left for me to do.”

My answer today is—I am where I need to be at this moment in time. I’m fulfilling God’s purpose for my life. Bad decisions didn’t stop me. Distractions didn’t stop me. They’re part of my story—part of my journey to becoming who God’s created me to be. I am so grateful and blessed to have experienced such a wonderful 12 years. I am where my dreams have taken me. I’m sitting right in them.

Y’all, God is so good! I absolutely love my life.🥰

This is all for now. Have a wonderful day and weekend. Be sure to treat yourself with love and kindness, and give yourself grace.♥️

I love you,

Kindness Begins Within

Be sure to treat yourself with just as much kindness as you would like from others, and then pass it on. Always remember that kindness must first begin within. The more kind you are to yourself—not nice, but kind—the more kindness you’ll be able to offer.

Wishing you a wonderful day! Be a beacon of light that represents God’s goodness and glory. The world needs your light.♥️

God’s Timing, gratitude

Happy Friday!

It’s Friday! Seems like this week flew by. Honestly, this year is flying by. Don’t blink too fast because it’ll be over and you’ll find yourself in the middle of 2027 asking where the time went.

Time…

It’s a tricky little thing.

So complex and should be respected.

Today, my goal is to be intentional about moving in the present. I want to feel the space I’m in right now. This afternoon, tomorrow, next week, and next year will have a space of their own. This time in space is what I’ve been blessed with and I’m going to handle it with care.

I pray you have an amazing Friday and an even better weekend.♥️

I love you,

Shaun

Face The Sunshine

Sunshine peeking through the clouds is confirmation that everything will be okay. Trust God.

Sunshine On Cloudy Days

Yes… sunshine is confirmation that everything will be alright. Storms don’t last forever.☀️

This morning I have two songs competing for attention. First, the lyrics from one song start playing. Then, the second song picks up before the first line of the other song even finishes. So, here’s what I’m hearing—

“Struttin’ on sunshine… my life, my life, my life in the sunshine. If you looked at my life and see what I’ve seen.”

Y’all, I truly love my life. As you can see, it doesn’t take much to amuse me.😊

Here are both songs—

Struttin’ On Sunshine by Ruby Amanfu

My Life by Mary J. Blige

Listen, keep your head up and keep your face towards the sun. Everything will be just fine.♥️

I love you,

Shaun

My Journey with God, No. 145

Happy Tuesday!☀️

Michelle Williams’ song “Say Yes” has been on repeat in my head since I woke up—

“When Jesus say ‘Yes,’ nobody can say ‘no.’ When Jesus say ‘Yes,’ nobody can say ‘no.’”

Say Yes” by Michelle Williams

I’m feeling this this morning. My spirit is feeling it. Y’all, God is so good. I know I say it so much that it sounds cliche, but I truly mean it. Even in my darkest moments, He’s still good. I just love the way He loves me. Y’all, I am so blessed. So very blessed.

Listen, when God say “Yes,” nobody can say “No.” That is…nobody but YOU.

Be careful not to say no to whatever God’s already given you His yes for. I don’t care if you feel unprepared/underprepared (believe me, you’ll never be prepared enough), afraid, out of your element, whatever the case may be. When God gives you the green light—GO! And don’t look back.

This is all for now. I woke up way too early. Going to try to take a nap before my day gets started. I pray you have a wonderful day.♥️

I love you,

Shaun

Hello Sunday (287)

Happy Sunday!☀️

Here’s today’s message:

God’s word is enough. It’s all you need. Stand on it.

God’s Word

God’s word is most definitely enough. If He said it, it will be. Stand on it.♥️

I love you,

Shaun

Praise God In Advance

Good Morning!☀️

I’m still singing Marvin Sapp’s “Praise Him In Advance.” I guess it’s the song of the week. Smile. The song says—

That’s why I praise Him with my hands. That’s why I praise Him with a dance. He’s given me a second chance. Come on, let’s praise Him in advance.

This morning I’m thanking God for a hundred second chances. Yes, a hundred—plus some. There are some things God has been working with me on for years and now I’m finally getting around to doing them. He’s given me so many chances to get things right.

Honestly, I believe I needed all of those chances because each time I didn’t follow through with whatever I was supposed to do, I learned something new about myself. I also gained more knowledge about what was asked of me, and God gave me room (grace) to improve. I am so loving this over 50 version of Shaun/LaShaundrea.🥰

Listen, no matter how many times you have to start over, know that every restart is an expression of God’s grace allowing you the opportunity to do better and become a better version of YOU.

I pray you have a lovely day!♥️

I love you,

Shaun

One More Day, One More Step

Good Morning☀️

This morning I’m singing Smokie Norful’s song “I Understand.” The song says—

And then He said
One more day, one more step
I’m preparing you for myself
When you can’t hear My voice
Please trust my plan
I’m the Lord, I see and yes I understand

Y’all, God is so good! I know I shared a lot yesterday. I haven’t revisited what I wrote, so I really don’t quite remember all that I actually shared. Just know that I had to get it out. It was time.

A couple of weeks ago, I began watching a new podcast by Pat Smith called “Pursuing You.” Pat is also in her 50s and so much of her story has resonated with me—life after divorce, grief from losing a sibling and parent, having adult children, unchecked shame from making unfavorable decisions, and the list goes on. Y’all, I didn’t know how much I needed this podcast—yes, needed! In two episodes, she has mentioned things that I have experienced over the past several years that I had no words for. You know how you know you’re feeling something but you just can’t quite explain it? Well, after Pat began sharing her experiences, especially those of isolation, grief, and shame, I realized I wasn’t alone. Then, yesterday, when I saw the clip of Hayden Panettiere sharing her experience of abuse, I just had to release what I could never quite share. I had to release the shame and the blame I had been carrying for years, and I had to release it then! If I hadn’t, I would have kept it buried.

Whew!! My life…

Y’all, I don’t know what kind of journey God has me on now. However, I’m here for whatever He’s doing because I know He’s preparing me for wherever He’s taking me. I truly trust Him and His plan.

I believe this is enough rambling for now. Thank you for allowing me to share. I pray you have a beautifully blessed day.♥️

I love you,

Shaun
