When God Moves

Good Morning☀️

Over the past month, I have watched God move in ways I have never witnessed or experienced before. Last night, when I shared that my spirit was having its own praise and worship moment, I was still in awe of how God had shown up hours earlier. Even as I write, I can’t help but praise God.

Short story…

Almost a year ago, I received a direct message from someone asking me if I would share an event on my Mississippi Thriving Facebook page, and I shared it. About a month later, I attended a luncheon for women veterans, and the person who asked me to share her event was the guest speaker. Towards the end of the event, I introduced myself to her, and she invited me to have coffee (hot chocolate for me) the following week. She was looking for volunteers to sit on the planning committee for the event I had shared for her. Well, what was supposed to be a quick meeting turned into a two-hour conversation. During our conversation, she shared her vision of providing resources, services, and assistance to unhoused communities in Central and South Mississippi.

When I tell you our meeting was divinely orchestrated! I had asked God for a mentor to help me with my nonprofit, which had been sitting idle for three years, and He sent her. After a couple of conversations with her, I finally launched my nonprofit.

Since meeting my mentor, who is now my newest friend (as you can see, I’m not ready to share her name yet), I have made more connections with the community than I made while doing community-based research—nearly 20 years. I have also participated in more community events (participating in another in a few hours) in less than a year than I have in my entire career. When I tell you I am so in awe of God! I asked, and He moved.

Yesterday, I attended my first public hearing to support my friend. If you didn’t know, providing assistance to the unhoused community isn’t very popular with cities. Over the last several months, my friend has had to jump through hoops to renovate an abandoned hotel that she and her husband have planned to turn into a day/resource center for the unhoused. Yesterday was another hoop… BUT GOD!!! When I tell you I watched God work! Yesterday, when I shared “God has the final say,” I was sitting there watching Him in action. At first, things appeared to be going downhill, but at the last minute, it all worked out in their favor.

Listen, you can’t tell me what God can’t do! When He gives you a vision or dream, hold on to it. It may take years to come to fruition, but it will happen. Also, timing is everything. We both talk about this all the time. Them acquiring the hotel, which had been sitting abandoned for years, was all about timing. Even our connection was about timing, and my obedience. You see, I almost didn’t go to the women veterans event. Kept making excuses all that morning, all while hearing I needed to go. Talk about an opportunity that could’ve been missed!

I can’t say it enough—God is so good! I just love the way He loves me. I asked for this side of 50 to be different, and lo and behold, He’s making it happen. I am so very blessed.

This is all I have for now. I pray that you have a beautiful day. You deserve it!♥️

I love you always,

Shaun

Here’s what I shared several years ago—

It’s always best to trust God’s timing and His plan.

Timing

Just a friendly reminder. You are not behind. No, you’re right where you should be at this moment in time. Remember, everything happens according to God’s timing, not ours.

While waiting, your/our (yes, myself included☺️) job is to continue following God’s instructions and guidance until whatever we dreamed comes to fruition. And you know those instructions I’m referring to. Yeah…the ones you keep putting off like God doesn’t see you. Smile. Well, follow those instructions first, and everything else will fall into place. Before you know it, you’ll be standing in your dream.♥️

Love you,

Shaun

A Rebirth

Here’s a message for you—

Everything you thought you lost, including time, is being restored or made new.

That’s what I heard when I came across this Facebook memory from September 29, 2022.

On that day, I wrote, “God will make ALL things new.”

Been feeling this lately, especially since my son turned 21. Yeah… since last week. Smile. Yesterday it hit me that at 51 I’ve been given a second chance at everything in life. Somewhat like a rebirth. However, this time around, I’m much wiser. Most of the decisions I’ll make this time will be based on personal experiences, good and bad (lessons learned).

Y’all, I’m pretty excited about this new stage of life! Looking forward to the new.♥️

Focus On Your Purpose

“Focus on your purpose and God will do the rest.”

That’s been God’s message to me for years now, to stay focused. No need to try to figure everything out on my own or worry about time. My job is, and has always been, to stay focused on my purpose. As many of us know, that’s often easier said than done. However, I’m getting there.

How about you? How are you doing with staying focused? Just thought I’d ask. Smile

Listen, have a blessed day!♥️

Love you,

Shaun

The Little Engine

Facebook Memory: September 17, 2022

Keep moving. You’ve come too far to give up on your dreams, goals and purpose. Just because you can’t see or feel God working, doesn’t mean He isn’t. Imagine if you were to quit today and tomorrow everything was set to fall in place. Again– Keep moving!♥️

Honestly, most of the time I feel like the “Little Engine That Could”. Like I’m living on this steep hill, and although I’m moving forward, it’s a struggle and barely noticeable. One stall and I might slip. Then, I’ll have to start all over. So, I never truly stop. Nope, I keep moving. An inch here and several there, but I never stop moving. It’s little reminders like this (the gems I’ve left myself over the years) that have kept me going.

I’m not going to quit. God’s brought me too far to stop now.

I pray you’re moving in the direction of your goals and dreams, even if you’re not moving fast. Remember, God’s timing is everything. Just keep moving! Things will happen right on time.♥️

Love you,

Shaun

Nothing Or No One

I love watching God work.

Nothing or no one can stop God’s amazing plan for your life. Please remember this—especially when everything seems to be falling apart or not happening in your favor. Know that God has not forgotten you. He’s forever working behind the scenes. Believe me, everything will happen when it’s time and better than you imagined. Trust Him… or, as Rev. Jesse Jackson would say, “Keep hope alive!” Y’all, he looked so good and well at the Democratic National Convention. When I tell you my heart is still overflowing this morning. Whew!

Listen, timing is everything! Keep hope ALIVE!♥️

You Can Wait

If God tells you to “wait,” then wait. Don’t try to rush things along by interfering with what God is doing. Waiting means setting aside what you’re waiting for and focusing on something else—believe me, there are plenty of other things to focus on—without constantly checking or asking God if it’s time. Leave it alone. God will let you know when the wait is over. In the meantime, enjoy what you have right in front of you.

HA! That’s what I am saying now.

It wasn’t until Year50 that I released everything to God. As I have written before, I let my timeline go. For as far back as I can remember, I have had a timeline for something or have tried to help God along with things I felt He was moving to slowly with. To me, He never seemed to have the same sense of urgency as I did. I would often tell Him, “I’m not waiting 2-3 years.” Only to have the joke be on me because it would be 10, 20, or 30 years later before it happened. Yes, some things I have had to wait 30 years to see.

What I have learned is, God has us wait for a reason. Although it feels like we are being punished, it’s the exact opposite, we are actually being protected. Allow God to protect you (sometimes He’s protecting you from yourself because you’re not ready). As I mentioned before, while you wait, enjoy what’s in front of you. Take advantage of every opportunity and blessing you currently have. In due time the wait will be over, and guess what—you won’t even know how or when it happened. Smile

Praying you have a relaxing day and safe 4th of July. Love you!♥️

The answer to your question is, “Wait.”

Nothing else to add.
Be Blessed.

Messages On Repeat: Be Still and Wait

Last year, I shared these two messages/memories as a pair and have decided to do so again this year.

I don’t know about you but there are times when I become impatient and frustrated waiting on God. Just being honest. So, I end up ignoring His guidance and attempt to do things on my own. However, every time I’ve done so, it’s turned out to be a huge mistake. Moving on my own or prematurely has never resulted in what I thought it would. Honestly, it’s only caused delays in my progress.

Remember, God knows what He is doing and what lies ahead. If He advises us to be still and wait, we must do just that; no matter how uncomfortable it gets. I promise you—speaking from experiences of both not waiting and waiting—when it’s time to move, everything will work out in your favor and better than you imagined. So sit tight while God works. And, when He finally says move, you better move!♥️

Love you,

Shaun
