Can’t you hear Shalamar singing “Second Time Around”? Well, I surely can. Smile
Well, this isn’t about a relationship, at least not the kind they were singing about. This one is about my second term as my association’s president-elect/president. Y’all, everything is finally making sense. I now understand why I’ve been given a second opportunity to serve.☺️
In 2023, I shared, “Your obedience to God unlocks doors.” Although this is true, I believe our obedience should be more important than any blessing we may receive. It’s our obedience that strengthens our relationship with God. It shows Him that we not only love Him, but we trust Him despite what He can do or give.
Today, my advice is to focus on building a relationship with God. It’s more important than the blessings and unlocked doors. Both will come in due time.
Found this screenshot in my photos from February 26, 2019. Since it wasn’t in my Facebook memories, I checked to see what I had written in my journal, and here’s what I found.
After writing about a dream that I had earlier that morning, I wrote—
“So “La, La, La” by Zhane keeps playing over and over in my head. Lord! Talking about feeling crazy!! Yes, my dreams are haunted. But, that entire album has been playing over and over in my head for the past month.”
Side Note: “For A Reason” or “Everything Happens For A Reason” was the main song I kept hearing. It ended up staying with me the entire year. Then, when my brother passed that October, I felt that was probably the reason I kept hearing it. Life…
Anyhoo… back to my journal entry and dream.
“When I woke up all of the anxiety I’d been feeling was gone. It was replaced with peace.
Message: God will not deliver you something that will bring chaos to your life. He will send you peace. Everything will be alright.”
Today’s message is the same, and I’m sharing it with you—God will not send you chaos but peace. Everything will be alright.♥️
As I was scrolling through my Facebook memories, I saw a post from ten years ago that prompted me to see what I had written in my journal on February 26, 2015. Here’s how my entry began—
February 26, 2015, Shaun’s Journal Entry
“Lord please help me allow you to lead. Help me let you have total control over my life. I must admit giving up control is scary, but at this moment- tired, broke, and confused, I have no other choice.
Letting go and letting God! Lord please guide my footsteps today.”
I also wrote that I was listening to “Something About the Name Jesus.” Smiling. Smiling because I’m not where I used to be. Smiling because I made it through, and I definitely couldn’t have done it without reverencing Jesus. I’m truly blessed.
Allow God to guide your footsteps. He won’t lead you wrong.♥️
One good thing about social media is being able to witness God’s greatness through testimonies of growth, success, and manifested dreams. It’s the testimonies of others overcoming obstacles and hardships to finally succeeding and excelling that keep me believing. If God can do it for them, He most certainly can do it for me because I know He loves me. So, I cannot and will not give up on my dreams.
And YOU cannot afford to give up on yours, either. No matter how long it takes, never, ever give up on your dreams!♥️
Today’s a new day! Be sure to leave yesterday’s worries, fears, hurts, and disappointments behind. Start today with a fresh mind and open heart, expecting great things to happen. Remember, God is still in control.
I pray this week brings you peace and clarity. May God’s love and grace surround you. Remain open to new ideas and opportunities that align with God’s divine purpose for your life. Remember, more of God and less of you. It’s all about God andHis glory, not ours.♥️
I hadn’t looked at all of my Facebook memories until moments ago. Six years ago, I created my social media platform, “Mississippi Thriving.” I posted my official welcome message in December of that year, so you may see me celebrate milestones in February and December.
Here’s what I wrote on this date in 2019 and 2020.
My nephews. Only two of my other babies. I have a lot of them.🥰
In the past six years, I have connected with so many wonderful people who share my same vision for a healthier, brighter, and thriving Mississippi. Although it may feel as if we’ll never see it happen in our lifetimes, I still believe it’s possible.
I’ve shared the same image below since 2022. To continue with the “love” theme, I’m sharing it again today, along with two of my previous captions—the first is included in the screenshot.
Keep it simple. Don’t overcomplicate it.
Here’s the second caption, which was shared last year.
Feeling a bit nostalgic this morning. Taking it back to when times seemed simpler. When love seemed simpler. But what would I know? I was only around four or five when “When Somebody Loves You Back,” was released.🤭 Let’s just say I felt the love Teddy was singing about. It was between this song and L.T.D.’s “Love Ballad.” I’m a 70’s baby, of course I love “LOVE.”☺️
When I shared last year’s post as an Instagram story, I included Teddy Pendergrass’ “When Somebody Loves You Back.” As you can see, I was torn between it and another 70’s favorite, L.T.D.’s “Love Ballad.” I remember my granddaddy playing L.T.D.’s eight track while driving his midnight blue L.T.D. I was so intrigued by the fact that they were both L.T.D.s that I never forgot either—not even the color of his car. Great memories.☺️
As I said in my caption from last year, “I’m a 70’s baby, of course I love “LOVE.”☺️” It’s who I am, and this year I’m embracing it. I am a lover and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with it. As Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said—
“Hatred paralyzes life; love releases it. Hatred confuses life; love harmonizes it. Hatred darkens life; love illuminates it.”
