Life, Time, and Clarity

Good Morning!☀️

Here’s today’s quote—

“May your choices reflect your hopes, not your fears.” –Nelson Mandela

Quote of the Day – 8.31.2026

Earlier, I came across a post from a renowned author and photographer (we’ll call her Lis) whom I met years ago after she spoke at an event I attended. I know I caught her off guard with my enthusiastic claim that our meeting was somehow a divine encounter. I said something to the effect that I knew God orchestrated our meeting and that we’d work together someday. Well, that day never came. Laughing. However, we became Facebook friends, and she did meet my mom. Lis interviewed my mom for a book she was writing and took photos of her—which made my mom feel so special. So, although we never worked together, the time she spent with my mom was so worth our meeting. Smiling.

The reason today’s quote and Lis’ post are so significant is because they were both divinely timed. Lis shared her post three days ago, but I didn’t see it until this morning, after today’s quote was posted. You see, Lis and I both began our doctoral journeys (in different fields) at the same time (Summer of 2018). She finished and became a professor, and I quit and started pursuing other ventures/adventures. Seeing Lis’ post reminded me of the journey I sometimes question whether I allowed fear to stop me from pursuing. I know that my heart wasn’t truly in it; however, deep down it was still a goal I wanted to achieve. It was a space that challenged me, and I caved under the pressure—just being honest and transparent.

Again, I needed to see the quote and post because I have so much work to do that will require me to operate at a different level. A few months ago, I became the southern region representative for our state’s Public Health Association. Public health, advocacy, policy making, and program development were the focus of my DrPH (Doctor of Public Health) degree.

I have a lot to think about and some decisions to make. This time I need to let hope guide my decisions and choices, not my fears.

Y’all, pray my strength in the Lord. Smile

Have a wonderful day and week!♥️

I love you,

Shaun

My Journey With God, No. 103

I spent the last week at one of my sisters’ houses dog-sitting. It was planned months ago. However, little did I know I would need that time to sit and unwind. I needed the solitude. While there, I rarely turned on the television or watched anything on social media. It was just me, God, and Pepé (her dog).

It was there that I realized I have been blessed with a life that I continuously try to complicate by making this or that venture happen. The hustle and bustle that needed to happen happened on the other side of 50 including helping raise my siblings, raising my kids, and taking care of my mom until she passed. Yes, all of that happened on the other side of 50. So, now is my time to just be and care for me.

Don’t get me wrong, I still have the same aspirations and dreams, but I don’t have to neglect my well-being or peace to have them. Just like everything else God’s given me, they’ll come with time. I now understand that being able to enjoy life at my own pace is a gift, a gift that I am humbly accepting.♥️

Life

It’s In The Stillness

It’s in the stillness that we hear God’s voice the clearest. It’s hard to hear him when our mind is going 100 miles a minute. Stillness is where we find clarity and peace.

My previous message was a call for stillness—Be still! So, I guess you can say this one is the follow up message, or part two. Smile. Praying stillness allows you to clearly hear God’s voice.♥️

Love you,

Shaun

About this drawing. Saw my iPad and wanted to draw. Pushed it aside and said I would do it later—which probably would have never happened. That’s when I heard to draw now. To stop waiting for the perfect time to do the things I truly enjoy. Now, was and is the perfect time.☺️ It’s in the stillness…

Be mindful of who and what you allow into your space.

I don’t usually blog twice in one day, but I feel the need to get this one out. As most of you know, I took a break from social media. Well, over the last week or so, I’ve gradually logged back onto each account. Up until a short while ago, everything was going well– or so I thought. What started out with what I felt was a positive, innocent video ended with another video filled with negative energy. Y’all, the first video wheeled me in. The second one left me feeling drained and in a negative mood.

I began this blog by saying be mindful of what you allow into your space. Truthfully, I knew long before I watched the first video that this particular Instagram account was filled with negativity. Most of the people I follow on this account rarely have anything good to share. Yet, I follow them because they always post the latest news. Well, after tonight’s experience, I now know it’s time to unfollow a few people. Y’all, my peace is way too valuable to lose. I’m so thankful for clarity!

By the way, my birthday month is finally here!! As usual, I’m celebrating all month long.

Good Night!
