My Journey With God, No. 68

Hey Mr. D.J.” (Remix)

Found this screenshot in my photos from February 26, 2019. Since it wasn’t in my Facebook memories, I checked to see what I had written in my journal, and here’s what I found.

After writing about a dream that I had earlier that morning, I wrote—

“So “La, La, La” by Zhane keeps playing over and over in my head. Lord! Talking about feeling crazy!! Yes, my dreams are haunted. But, that entire album has been playing over and over in my head for the past month.”

Side Note:For A Reason” or “Everything Happens For A Reason” was the main song I kept hearing. It ended up staying with me the entire year. Then, when my brother passed that October, I felt that was probably the reason I kept hearing it. Life

Anyhoo… back to my journal entry and dream.

“When I woke up all of the anxiety I’d been feeling was gone. It was replaced with peace.

Message: God will not deliver you something that will bring chaos to your life. He will send you peace. Everything will be alright.”

Today’s message is the same, and I’m sharing it with you—God will not send you chaos but peace. Everything will be alright.♥️

Love you always,

Shaun

Let God Lead

As I was scrolling through my Facebook memories, I saw a post from ten years ago that prompted me to see what I had written in my journal on February 26, 2015. Here’s how my entry began—

February 26, 2015, Shaun’s Journal Entry

“Lord please help me allow you to lead. Help me let you have total control over my life. I must admit giving up control is scary, but at this moment- tired, broke, and confused, I have no other choice.

Letting go and letting God! Lord please guide my footsteps today.”

I also wrote that I was listening to “Something About the Name Jesus.” Smiling. Smiling because I’m not where I used to be. Smiling because I made it through, and I definitely couldn’t have done it without reverencing Jesus. I’m truly blessed.

Allow God to guide your footsteps. He won’t lead you wrong.♥️

I love you always,

Shaun

Never Give Up On Your Dreams

Good Morning☀️

Never give up on your dreams!

One good thing about social media is being able to witness God’s greatness through testimonies of growth, success, and manifested dreams. It’s the testimonies of others overcoming obstacles and hardships to finally succeeding and excelling that keep me believing. If God can do it for them, He most certainly can do it for me because I know He loves me. So, I cannot and will not give up on my dreams.

And YOU cannot afford to give up on yours, either. No matter how long it takes, never, ever give up on your dreams!♥️

I love you always,

Shaun

With God ALL things are possible.

God First

Trust God. He’s got you.

Always keep God first. Everything else will fall into place.♥️

I Still Believe

Being reminded of my “Why” keeps me hopeful.

I hadn’t looked at all of my Facebook memories until moments ago. Six years ago, I created my social media platform, “Mississippi Thriving.” I posted my official welcome message in December of that year, so you may see me celebrate milestones in February and December.

Here’s what I wrote on this date in 2019 and 2020.

My nephews. Only two of my other babies. I have a lot of them.🥰

In the past six years, I have connected with so many wonderful people who share my same vision for a healthier, brighter, and thriving Mississippi. Although it may feel as if we’ll never see it happen in our lifetimes, I still believe it’s possible.

I must keep hope alive.♥️

Hello Sunday

Happy Sunday!☀️

Psalm 118:21–24 (NIV)

21. I will give You thanks, for You answered me; You have become my salvation.

22. The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone;

23. the Lord has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes.

24. The Lord has done it this very day; let us rejoice today and be glad.

Rejoice!

Today’s a new day, which means there’s still hope for something miraculously wonderful to happen. Never give up hope.

I love you,

Shaun

My Journey With God, No. 66

“Never give up on your dreams. You’re still breathing, so your dreams are still possible.”

When I shared the image and caption above on Instagram and YouTube, I included Yolanda Adams’ song “Never Give Up.” The song says (Lyrics: LyricFind)—

Visions that can change the world
Trapped inside an ordinary girl
She looks just like me
To afraid to dream out loud

And though it’s set for your idea
It won’t make sense to everybody
You need courage now
If you’re going to persevere

To fulfill your divine purpose
You’ve gotta answer when you’re called
So don’t be afraid to face the world
Against all odds

Keep the dream alive don’t let it die, if something deep inside
Keeps inspiring you to try, don’t stop
And never give up; don’t ever give up on you
Don’t give up

When I tell you this last year has been about full-circle moments! Last June, I began serving my second term as president-elect for my state’s dietetics association (the first time was in 2015). Back in November, I was reconnected with someone I wanted to work on a project with ten years ago. Today, we are working on a similar project that’s even better than the one I envisioned. Then, last night, I attended an event and connected with someone who could possibly help me with another project I wanted to work on ten years ago.

Y’all, I had given up on both projects—projects that were part of my dream—but God said not so!

Despite the craziness happening right now, God is still bringing dreams to life. I can’t help but be in awe of Him!

Forever grateful and blessed.♥️

My Journey With God, No. 62

Re-reading Christy Nockels’ “The Life I Long For: Learning to Live from a Heart of Rest” has been more about revisiting my reflection notes at the end of each chapter than actually reading the book. Here’s one about me trying to maintain a balance between pursuing my dreams and staying present (February 2022)—

Balance. Is there such a thing as balance? Either you’re working towards something or you’re enjoying the moment. Seems as if doing both is impossible.

That was written three years ago, written before I finished the book. By the time I finished it, I had found that balance. I discovered I could do both—actively pursue my dreams and stay present. The catch was, and still is, God has to be the center of it all. I cannot live the life I desire without Him being so. When I place myself in the center and try to do things from my own efforts, that’s when I feel off balance. And that’s also when God gently reminds me that He’s in control. Yes, HE is in control. Smiling

Y’all, God is so good. I just can’t express it enough how grateful I am that He loves me. I am so blessed.

Anyhoo… Let me go to sleep.♥️ ~Shaun

You Lack Nothing

You lack nothing. You already have everything you need to accomplish whatever you need to at this moment. No need to keep waiting. Use what you have.♥️

Love you,

Shaun

Do It Now

If there is something you desire to do, do it! Do it NOW! Waiting for the perfect time to get started only delays progress and time—time that you could actually be doing what you love.

I’ve been feeling this a lot lately. As we know, tomorrow’s not promised. All we have is today. I don’t know about you, but I would hate to leave this world without at least attempting to do the things I love. I just can’t do it, and won’t.

I pray your day is going well. Smile♥️

Love you,

Shaun
