My Journey with God, No. 145

Happy Tuesday!☀️

Michelle Williams’ song “Say Yes” has been on repeat in my head since I woke up—

“When Jesus say ‘Yes,’ nobody can say ‘no.’ When Jesus say ‘Yes,’ nobody can say ‘no.’”

Say Yes” by Michelle Williams

I’m feeling this this morning. My spirit is feeling it. Y’all, God is so good. I know I say it so much that it sounds cliche, but I truly mean it. Even in my darkest moments, He’s still good. I just love the way He loves me. Y’all, I am so blessed. So very blessed.

Listen, when God say “Yes,” nobody can say “No.” That is…nobody but YOU.

Be careful not to say no to whatever God’s already given you His yes for. I don’t care if you feel unprepared/underprepared (believe me, you’ll never be prepared enough), afraid, out of your element, whatever the case may be. When God gives you the green light—GO! And don’t look back.

This is all for now. I woke up way too early. Going to try to take a nap before my day gets started. I pray you have a wonderful day.♥️

I love you,

Shaun

Believe Me, He’s Real

Good Morning!☀️

This morning I woke up singing Kirk Franklin’s “Let Me Touch You.” The song says—

Sometimes to me You seem so far away, and I wonder how to make it through the day. But if I can touch the hem of Your garment, Your power, I know, You can heal. Jesus let me touch You and see if You are real.

Let Me Touch You by Kirk Franklin

Listen, Jesus [God] is so very real, and He’s always near. When you don’t feel Him, just call His name. Never hesitate to call Him.

As you can see, my day has started off with worship. I pray that you’ve experienced God’s goodness as I have. No, life hasn’t been all roses. Sometimes it’s been very hard, so hard that at times I didn’t know if I would make it. But God never left my side. Y’all, I’m so blessed—so very blessed.

This is all for now. Wishing you a wonderful day! May you experience God’s goodness in real time. Yeah… I want you to feel it!♥️

I love you,

Shaun

One More Day, One More Step

Good Morning☀️

This morning I’m singing Smokie Norful’s song “I Understand.” The song says—

And then He said
One more day, one more step
I’m preparing you for myself
When you can’t hear My voice
Please trust my plan
I’m the Lord, I see and yes I understand

Y’all, God is so good! I know I shared a lot yesterday. I haven’t revisited what I wrote, so I really don’t quite remember all that I actually shared. Just know that I had to get it out. It was time.

A couple of weeks ago, I began watching a new podcast by Pat Smith called “Pursuing You.” Pat is also in her 50s and so much of her story has resonated with me—life after divorce, grief from losing a sibling and parent, having adult children, unchecked shame from making unfavorable decisions, and the list goes on. Y’all, I didn’t know how much I needed this podcast—yes, needed! In two episodes, she has mentioned things that I have experienced over the past several years that I had no words for. You know how you know you’re feeling something but you just can’t quite explain it? Well, after Pat began sharing her experiences, especially those of isolation, grief, and shame, I realized I wasn’t alone. Then, yesterday, when I saw the clip of Hayden Panettiere sharing her experience of abuse, I just had to release what I could never quite share. I had to release the shame and the blame I had been carrying for years, and I had to release it then! If I hadn’t, I would have kept it buried.

Whew!! My life…

Y’all, I don’t know what kind of journey God has me on now. However, I’m here for whatever He’s doing because I know He’s preparing me for wherever He’s taking me. I truly trust Him and His plan.

I believe this is enough rambling for now. Thank you for allowing me to share. I pray you have a beautifully blessed day.♥️

I love you,

Shaun

Hello Sunday (286)

Good Morning! And Happy Sunday to you!☀️ I pray your weekend has been wonderful thus far.

This morning I’m singing Marvin Sapp’s “Praise Him In Advance.” The song says—

That’s why I praise Him with my hands
That’s why I praise Him with a dance
He’s given me a second chance
Come on, let’s praise Him in advance

That’s why I praise Him with a song
When things are right and when things go wrong
He’s given me a second chance
Come on, let’s praise Him in advance

Lyrics: Musixmatch

Keep the praises going! Listen, God’s got you.♥️

Celebrating Year 53: One Month In

Stay present. God is taking you somewhere no other can take you—a place where He knows you’ll thrive.

You Will Thrive

This morning I’m thanking God for blessing me to see yet another day. For blessing me with a loving family and two amazing adult babies—my hearts.

This morning I’m thanking God for allowing me to BE—to be ME. Feeling exceptionally free!

Y’all, God is so good. I just love the way He loves me.

My quote for today and the next month ahead is one by Maya Angelou. It’s so aligned with what I’m feeling this morning—

“My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive.” –Maya Angelou

Thriving is the goal. I’ve survived long enough.

I pray you have a wonderful Friday and a beautiful weekend. May both be as lovely as you!♥️

I love you,

Shaun

Bonus: Song of the hour is Hezekiah Walker’s “Grateful.”

gratitude, hope

Grateful, Grateful, Grateful

This morning I’m singing Hezekiah Walker’s song “Grateful.” The song says—

I am grateful for the things that You have done. Yes, I’m grateful for the victories we’ve won. I could go on and on and on about Your works. Because I’m grateful, grateful, so grateful just to praise You, Lord. Flowing from my heart are the issues of my heart, it’s gratefulness.

Grateful by Hezekiah Walker

Flowing from my heart is gratefulness.

Y’all, I’m here!

I’m here!!

Just being alive is a blessing. God has given me yet another chance to experience His love, glory, kindness, and grace. For this, I’m truly grateful.

I pray you have a lovely day. It’s sprinkling where I am—mild tropical storm weather. Think I’ll take it easy today. Treat it like a lazy, rain day.☺️

Enjoy your day!♥️

I love you,

Shaun

Morning Praise and Worship

Kirk Franklin’s “Lookin’ Out For Me” has been playing over and over in my head since I woke up. The song says—

Every time I look back
And everytime I think back
On all the stuff I been through
I prayed through
I cried through
And then I tried you
And just when I was about to fall
Your love caught me when your name I called
Jesus you keep on looking out for me

Y’all, God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit—the Trinity—are forever looking out for me. It’s truly a blessing to be loved and completely covered. It’s something I don’t take lightly or for granted.

Now, I’m hearing John P. Kee’s “I Do Worship.”

As you can see, my spirit is having its own praise and worship service this morning, and I’m here for it! Smile

I pray you have a wonderfully blessed day.♥️

I love you,

Shaun

Happy Saturday, Y’all!

First off, I want to start by giving God the honor He’s due. I want to thank Him for truly being my ALL. Y’all, He really is good.

Secondly, I want to say “Hello” to you! I haven’t spoken in a while, or even shared much. I went from sharing four times a day to only sharing once. Honestly, I’m still trying to figure out how I did it without scheduling posts. Almost 100% of the time, I was writing in real time! Anyhoo… I truly hope life is good for you and you’re doing well.

So, if you haven’t noticed, WordPress now has an “On this Day” notification that lets bloggers know what they’ve shared over the years on a specific day. Kind of like Facebook memories. Smile. Well, over the past several years, I’ve shared the same message on this day but in different ways. The message is/was “Just Ask.” After revisiting past posts, I thought I continue with the theme—Just Ask!

Here’s a look at what I shared on July 18, 2024—

Four years ago, I wrote Just Ask. In the post I described a time where I wanted something and God responded instantly. Which, at the time, was a common occurrence. I would nonchalantly think of or mention something I wanted and God would deliver. Just like that! Well, lately I have not asked for anything. At least, not anything specific, and I’m not sure why. However, what I do know is I need to get my “ask” back. Yes, I need to start asking again.

I ended the post with, “I need to get my “ask” back.” That was two years ago.

Before I began writing this post, I took a moment to reflect on the last two years and my “asks.” Did I ask God for the things I desired? And did He deliver them?

The answer is “Yes!” I asked, and He most certainly answered and delivered, and still is! Y’all, God’s done so much more than I realized. Here’s one example (there are so many!):

After I took my last big leap and resigned from my job (five years ago), I couldn’t afford to attend any of our national dietetics conferences. Shoot, I could barely afford to attend the state ones. Y’all, I was so disappointed because I really loved going to those conferences. That’s where I made new connections, and where I recharged for the year. Then, nothing. I was working from home. Very little interactions with colleagues, and I had stopped volunteering. Basically, I was isolated, and I felt it.

Then 2024 happened!

A few months after I wrote the post mentioned above, I attended our national conference in Minnesota. Last year, I attended the one in Nashville. I’m smiling as I write, because it was nothing but God! This is how He worked it out for me.

In April of 2024 (before I wrote the post in July), a colleague asked if I’d consider running for President–elect of our state’s dietetics association, and one of the perks was an all expense paid trip to our national conference.

Now, I’m going to pause right here.

You see how God set that up?!

He knew what I wanted, but I had to do something in return to get it. As Joel Osteen’s father John would say, “How badly do you want it?”

First, I had to come out of isolation. I guess I should mention that I was also going through a few life changing experiences at the time—my mom had passed the year before, and to top it off, I was a new 50 year old. For years, I had asked God for my life over 50 to be different, but I wasn’t expecting the way He delivered the transition. Honestly, it had me feeling a bit confused and lost. Whew! What a time that Jubilee year was!!

Anyhoo… Second, I had to serve again, which was something I had been doing forever, but stopped when life started happening. So, I had to do both—come out of isolation and serve my community—in order to get what I desired.

Y’all, when I tell you God knows me so well! He knew exactly what would get me back going. And He knew I could do it. This is why I will never stop serving or praising Him!

Today, I’m reconnected, refocused, and rebuilding. Y’all, I can’t say it enough, I just love the way God loves me!

This is it for now. Thanks for reading! I’m getting ready to head to a board meeting—this time as past president. I can’t wait to see everyone!

Remember, it’s Self-Love Saturday! Be sure to do something extra special for yourself. And listen… Ask! I promise God will deliver exactly what you want.♥️

I love you,

Shaun
