Happy Wednesday!

I’m feeling so much better today. Although my ears and throat still hurt, I’m coughing and blowing my nose less, which is a blessing! Y’all, last night was the first night in over a week that I actually slept most of the night. Again.. a blessing!

Y’all, for some reason the flu wasn’t even on my radar. I’ve been so concerned with being vaccinated against COVID that I kept putting off the flu vaccine, which I have been getting annually for over a decade or so. Yeah.. I should’ve known better. Next time I’m getting vaccinated. Shoot, as soon as I get over this, I’m getting vaccinated.

Anyhoo.. I’m not going to waste a blog talking about my illness. Laughing.

Before I began writing, I read last year’s journal entry– something I usually do before writing my blogs. Well, last year I was just finishing Will Smith’s memoir, WILL. Y’all, just like Michelle Obama’s newest book, The Light We Carry, there were sooo many gems in his book. As I did with his, I have highlighted and taken notes on a few things I plan to work on. Things that will help me become a better version of myself. I already know some things will be challenging – because I know me (laughing) – but I’m determined to get them done. Progression is the name of the game, right? Smiling. Looking forward to meeting the woman I’m becoming.

Happy Sunday!

Wish I could report that I’m feeling much better, but I would be lying. What I thought was a cold was actually the flu. Then, right when I thought it was over, I developed bronchitis.

Y’all, this coughing is the worst! At least now I can get two or three sentences out without coughing my lungs out– that’s if I remember to speak in a steady tone. Before I could barely speak. Never in my life have I been so sick. Not even sure how it happened.

On another note, in a few hours I’ll be with my mom! Haven’t seen her in a few weeks due to being sick. She’s finally out of the nursing facility (was discharged the day before Thanksgiving) and living with my sister. Don’t worry, safety precautions in full effect – masks, gloves, sanitizer, Lysol, etc. She’s been asking to see her dog since she was admitted to the hospital in August; PLUS, they discharged her without sending home some of her daily medications. Yeah.. not good. So I’m delivering those. Well, delivering the medication but bringing her dog/my dog back.

Guess I forgot to mention that I now have a dog. Will share that story another time. The last time she was in a car for more than 10 minutes was over seven years ago when my sister drove her cross country from California to Mississippi. Y’all, I pray that I handle her well – feeding, potty time, etc. This new doggie owner thing– because she’s only been with me three weeks (was with my brother)– has not been simple. So yeah, this is going to be quite the adventure!

Well, let me get ready to leave. It’s about 1.5 hour drive to my sister’s. Please keep me in your prayers.

Good Morning!

I would like to thank you for supporting my new venture/adventure- The Research Diva-RD. Everything I do in life, or encounter, I view as an adventure. Some adventures are fun and some are not. Either way, I always tend to look back and say, “Wow, I did that!” I love life.

I pray that my new adventure helps bring hope and healing to communities while connecting us all. We must remember that, regardless of our backgrounds, we’re more alike than different.

It’s Wednesday! The day after elections. Usually, the day afterwards, I feel somewhat confused, and today is no different. Y’all, I’m always stunned by the number of people who continue to vote for egotistical, self-centered people who are only concerned with winning and fulfilling their own needs. It’s so obvious that they care nothing for the voters. Not even the ones they claim to be protecting from the “woke” people. If they truly cared, they would support legislation and causes that would create a better world and environment for everyone. Equity…

I was going to go into details about some of the races (specifically the Senate race in Georgia), but I’ll let it rest. All I’m going to say is, that race should not have been that close. Who would, in good conscience, vote for anyone who would never be able to make effective decisions? Sadly, Georgia isn’t the only state that voted this way.

Enough about the foolishness…

The highlight of the night was not a win, but a beautifully delivered concedence speech by Stacey Abrams, Georgia’s gubernatorial candidate. Y’all, Stacey is not finished. I know they thought last night’s results would take her out the game. Nah.. this loss just gave her more momentum. She’s on fire! And the fire she’s ignited in Georgia is about to spread like wildfire to surrounding states. Yes.. this is ONLY the beginning. Stacey is a change agent.

Listen, last night, while watching her speech, all I could think was – “Stacey Abrams for President.” Y’all, God has so much more in store for her. As I said, this is only the beginning. Smiling
